Douglas L. Baker, President

Doug is the President of EMI, He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a B.A. in Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management, and is currently also the Managing Principal of Boisebaker LLC.

Doug brings extensive business and entrepreneurial experience, with seventeen years in hospital medical sales, where he has represented The Kendall Company (now a part of Covidien), McGaw Laboratories/American Hospital Supply (now part of Baxter), Abbott Laboratories, and DeRoyal Industries.

While still in the medical business, Baker started his first company in 1989, LazerRenew, a recycled laser printer cartridge business.  This was one of the first recycled cartridge businesses in Boise Idaho, which he later successfully sold.  Doug then started Panorama Enterprises, Inc. dba “Moxie Java Coffee Shops”. Opening the initial store in 1993, through acquisitions and identifying and building out additional high traffic locations, he grew the number of stores to eleven. Store sales grew to $2.9 million while maintaining high profit margins and successfully competing with Starbucks and other local coffee shops. They were the largest Moxie Java licensee within their franchise system.

In his business adventures, Baker managed daily operations, financing, store location selection, store build-outs, hiring, training, marketing, store sales, all in partnership with his wife Sue.  He’s employed as many as 110 full and part time employees.  Doug successfully sold the Moxie Java business in February 2008.

In his sales capacity Doug has interfaced with all departments within the hospital: administration, materials management, pharmacy, medical staff, and nursing. Baker was recognized for sales and training expertise by McGaw, Abbott and DeRoyal.  He was additionally assigned to special product conversion teams that traveled throughout the country for McGaw and Abbott.

Doug is an avid fly fisherman, snowboarder, golfer and sportsman in his spare time.
